Job Description


The Payroll Officer is responsible for accurate and timeous processing of payroll, ensuring accurate processing of payroll data, maintaining compliance and accurate record keeping

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Process employee salaries including earnings and deductions on the payroll system
  2. Reconcile time and attendance, ensuring accurate hours worked are captured and processed
  3. Verify and accurately process monthly payroll data including deductions
  4. Process new employees and accurate payment banking details
  5. Process terminations in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures
  6. Ensure accurate processing of benefits contributions and deductions
  7. Prepare and process monthly incentive and reward payments
  8. Review payroll processed by Payroll Administrators and assist with resolving of payroll errors and queries
  9. Generate monthly payroll reports for Management and Finance
  10. Generate and submit monthly EMP201 reports and payment schedules
  11. Reconcile and prepare annual EMP501 reports and files for submission
  12. Maintain up-to-date employee records and payroll information
  13. Address employee queries and collaborate with HR to resolve any payroll discrepancies and queries
  14. Participate and collaborate with Management on process improvements and optimization

Requirements:

 

  1. A Diploma in Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Payroll Officer.
  3. Sage 300 People payroll processing experience.
  4. Experience with tax submissions and recons – both EMP201 & EMP501.
  5. Experience with benefits processing and 3rd party payments – provident fund, medical aid, business travel.
  6. Experience in remuneration structures, bonuses, incentives and rewards.
  7. Ability to use data analytics to make data-driven decisions.
  8. Experience with Time and Attendance Systems.
  9. Employee self-service portals experience.
  10. Strong knowledge of payroll and tax regulations and compliance.
  11. Advanced Microsoft excel proficiency.
