Job Description


RPO Recruitment’s client, a well-established construction company in the Western Cape is currently seeking a seasoned Senior Civil Tenderer/Quantity Surveyor to join their dynamic team and play a critical role in securing and delivering successful projects.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation and submission of competitive civil tenders
  • Analyse project specifications, drawings, and contractual documents
  • Prepare detailed BOQs and cost estimates using industry-standard software
  • Engage with suppliers and subcontractors for pricing and quotations
  • Identify and evaluate tender risks, opportunities, and value engineering options
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders during tender clarification stages
  • Attend tender briefings and site visits as required
  • Manage all commercial aspects of awarded projects
  • Monitor project costs and budgets, reporting on cost variances and profitability
  • Prepare and submit monthly valuations, progress claims, and variation orders
  • Review and negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and procurement terms
  • Ensure compliance with contract conditions and company policies
  • Support project teams with financial planning, forecasting, and cost reporting

 

Requirements:

  • National Diploma in Building/BTech in Quantity Surveying/Civil Engineering or similar
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in civil construction, with a strong track record in tendering and quantity surveying
  • Proven experience in earthworks, bulk services, stormwater, pipelines, or related civil infrastructure
  • Excellent understanding of local construction regulations, SANS standards, and contract law (e.g., JBCC, GCC, FIDIC)
  • Proficiency in estimating and QS software (e.g., CCS Candy, WinQS, BuildSmart)
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Ability to lead and mentor junior staff
  • Driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites when required
