Job Description
The Kipushi Project S.A. is looking for a Superintendent I, Payroll Administration
The Kipushi Project, in the DRC’s province of Haut-Katanga and southeast of the company’s Kamoa discovery, is adjacent to the town of Kipushi and approximately 30 kilometers southwest of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi. Ivanhoe Mines acquired its 68% interest in the Kipushi Project in November 2011; the balance of 32% is held by the DRC’s state-owned mining company, Gécamines.
The Kipushi Project is based on the high-grade, underground zinc-copper mine in the Central African Copperbelt, which mined approximately 60 million tonnes grading 11% zinc and 7% copper between 1924 and 1993. In addition to producing copper and zinc, the mine produced 12,673 tonnes of lead and approximately 278 tonnes of germanium between 1956 and 1978.

To conduct Payroll administration for national employees and to ensure accuracy of Payroll-related information of national employees and potential recruits. The incumbent liaises between Kipushi and Ivanhoe Mines Group Payroll to ensure accuracy of Payroll reporting, adherence to DRC legislation regarding Kipushi and Ivanhoe policies and procedures impacting Payroll, for Kipushi employees
You will have the following:
- Honours degree in HR
- 5 years’ relevant experience in HR/Payroll, in a managerial-related role involving discrete handling of sensitive, confidential information
- Experience in the mining environment highly advantageous
- Fluency in both French and English is a must
- Being a Congolese citizen is an advantage
You will have advanced skills and knowledge in:
- Kipushi and Ivanhoe policies and procedures relating to Payroll
- Knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and company rules
- DRC labour and tax legislation
- SAGE
- Microsoft Office
- Excel
- Honours degree in Finance

Your Key Performance Activities will include but not limited to:
Process: To ensure accuracy of Payroll information and compliance with DRC legislation and Kipushi and Ivanhoe Payroll-related policies and procedures
- Ensure internal audit on all national recruit/employee information that has implications for Payroll
- Manage the administration of monthly payroll
- Compile Payroll reports as input into Kipushi reporting (Congolese nationals)
- Assist in remuneration and benefits benchmarking (Congolese nationals)
- Ensure implementation of Payroll system (SAGE) optimisation
- Implement and maintain a manual and virtual filing and archiving system
- Unions relations
- Function as a Payroll subject matter expert
