Job Description


Bond Equipment (Pty) Ltd., a leader in mineral processing solutions with over 60 years of engineering and manufacturing excellence, seeks a dynamic Workshop Foreman for our Mineral Testing Laboratory located in Klerksdorp, North West Province, South Africa.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, direct, and supervise a team of skilled metal workers, including welders and boilermakers.
  • Ensure a high level of proficiency and compliance with welding standards through training, regular assessments, and adherence to established procedures.
  • Oversee structural and mechanical steel fabrication, ensuring high-quality output according to specifications and safety standards. practices.
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor daily workshop activities to meet production deadlines.
  • Maintain adherence to all safety regulations and quality assurance standards.
  • Train, mentor, and develop team members.
  • Ensure optimal use of materials, equipment, and resources to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
  • Liaise effectively with management, draughtsman and engineers.
  • Organise workflow, schedule maintenance, and manage equipment repairs and servicing.
  • Review engineering drawings, plans, and specifications to effectively delegate tasks.
  • Manage procurement processes, ensuring timely ordering and availability of materials.
  • Conduct regular toolbox meetings and enforce adherence to safety protocols.
  • Resolve technical and operational issues promptly and effectively.
  • Monitor productivity and quality to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Document and report progress, issues, and successes clearly to management.
  • Participate in recruitment and performance evaluations of team members.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in structural steel and mechanical fabrication
  • Demonstrated expertise in welding, structural assembly, and quality control procedures.

  • Familiarity with industry-standard fabrication methods, tools, machinery, and safety practices.
  • Strong technical and practical skills in interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Computer literacy, particularly with workshop management software or related systems.
  • Ability and willingness to relocate to Klerksdorp.

Qualifications and Experience:     

  • Professional qualification as a Boilermaker or equivalent Red Seal Accreditation.
  • Knowledge of the mineral processing industry will be a distinct advantage.
  • Familiarity with relevant South African welding standards such as SANS 10225, SANS 10044 and ISO 15614-1:2017 is essential.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years proven experience working in a boiler shop or similar metal fabrication environment.
  • Proven leadership experience as a Workshop Foreman, Supervisor, or equivalent role in metal fabrication.

Shortlisted candidates will be expected to undergo psychometric testing and background screening.
