Job Description
Our client is looking for a Data Scientist!
We’re working with a leading industrial solutions company that provides innovative machinery, engineering services, and automation systems to the mining and minerals processing sector. As part of their drive toward digital transformation, technology plays a growing role in supporting operational efficiency and smart manufacturing.
Responsibilities:
• Data architecture design and implementation.
• Machine learning and AI design and implementation.
• Data quality and security.
• Collaboration and communication.
• Collaborate with business and IT teams to understand data requirements and translate them into effective data solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior data architects and other team members.
• Ensure data systems performance and scalability.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 1-3+ years of experience within a data science environment, preferably with mining and mineral processing experience, or supply chain experience.
• Experience with ETL/ELT pipeline development.
• Strong knowledge of Kimball dimensional modelling (star vs snowflake schema).
• Proficient in SQL, specifically T-SQL and M code.
• Knowledge of data ingestion from various sources, such as ERP, on-prem and cloud databases, CRM, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.
• Knowledge of data gateways for on-prem data and cloud resources integration, and of databases, specifically PostgreSQL and SQL Server.
• Experience with Python (primary), R (optional), and Spark (beneficial).
• Adept in time series forecasting, descriptive and inferential statistics, and predictive maintenance modelling.
• Familiar with ML frameworks and model deployment using Azure Machine Learning, Azure Functions, or AKS.
• Strong skills in Power BI.
• Experience answering ad hoc queries and interpreting complex datasets.
• Able to perform root cause analysis and correlation studies on equipment performance.
• Famailiar with REST APIs and microservices for integrating ML models into web applications.
• Understand web app deployment and hosting on Azure App Services.
• Understand inventory control, demand planning, and working capital optimisation.
• Experience with inventory optimisation models.
Advantageous:
• Proficient with Microsoft Fabric.
