Mechanical Engineer – Cape Town

RPO Recruitment is actively seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our client’s dynamic team based in Epping, Cape Town. This is an exciting permanent opportunity for a dedicated engineering professional to apply technical expertise in designing, maintaining, and improving industrial machinery within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

• Execute detailed design of industrial machines, sub-components, sheet metal, weldments, and large-scale assemblies.

• Generate accurate detailed drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs).

• Prepare clear manufacturing and assembly instructions.

• Conduct quality assurance on mechanical work and compile technical failure/task reports.

• Ensure inspection and preventative maintenance tasks are scheduled and documented in the group CMMS.

• Liaise with cross-functional teams to resolve mechanical failures and implement robust solutions.

• Drive preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.

• Champion continuous improvement initiatives across engineering processes.

Requirements:

• BSc/B.Eng./B-Tech in Mechanical Engineering.

• Minimum of 8–10 years’ experience in a maintenance or production environment.

• Competency in computer-aided engineering design and drawing software.

• Practical, hands-on experience in a manufacturing or maintenance setting.

• Familiarity with hydraulic system design and maintenance (advantageous).

• Understanding of electrical control systems (advantageous).

• Proven project and team leadership experience.

• Fully computer literate (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).

• Strong administrative skills and CMMS experience.

• Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.

• Valid driver’s license.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
