Instrumentation Engineer – Mining Industry – R1.3mil – R1.1mil
Job Description
RPO Recruitment’s client is urgently seeking the expertise of an Instrumentation Engineer in Gauteng. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive engineering solutions in the field of instrumentation across multi-disciplinary project environments. The ideal candidate will have expertise in process control and instrumentation within mining and minerals processing, water, wastewater, agriculture, energy, and other emerging technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Strong background in process control and instrumentation
- Experience in sectors such as mining and minerals processing, water and wastewater, agriculture, energy, and other emerging technologies
- Instrument design and control valve sizing
- Procurement management and technical support
- Ensure all designs align with industry standards and client specifications
- Drive detailed, accurate, and innovative design solutions
- Conduct peer reviews and coordinate with vendors
- Oversee and support project commissioning
- Integrate designs seamlessly across multiple disciplines
- Champion continuous improvement and value engineering
- Work closely with project teams, including design engineers, procurement specialists, and clients
- Ensure solutions are fit-for-purpose within budget and timeline constraints
- Engage stakeholders with a client-centric approach
- Ensure clear, consistent communication and technical alignment
- Maintain ISO-aligned project deliverables
- Manage change control processes
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards
- Support commissioning and handover of systems

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering – Electronic or Electrical Engineering advantageous (preferred).
- National Higher Diploma in Engineering – Electronic or Electrical essential
- 8 years or more demonstrable experience of working in a similar role at a comparable level in a company
- 5 years or more worked within an EPCM / Mining environment
- Understanding of the EPCM project cycle
- MS Office advanced proficiency – Outlook, MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe
- Exposure to all project control functions
- Worked with instrumentation design packages
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of the following aspects of instrument engineering:
- Instrument selection
- Instrument bus systems
- Instrument wiring systems
- Loop drawings
- Control valve sizing
- Data sheets
- Material selection for instruments
