Job Description:

The National Lead: Sprinkler Systems is accountable for the national oversight, execution, and continuous improvement of all sprinkler system projects within SecureFire’s portfolio. This role combines deep technical knowledge of water-based fire suppression systems with leadership capability to standardize operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive business growth.

In addition to leading sprinkler operations, the incumbent must have worked experience in detection and suppression systems and be fully conversant with SANS 10139 and other relevant fire protection codes and standards. The position requires a strong understanding of both technical and compliance environments, and the ability to scale solutions across complex commercial, industrial, and residential environments.

This is a senior-level technical leadership role reporting directly into senior management and working closely with sales, design, compliance, and operational teams across the country.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Oversight & Execution
    • Lead the national sprinkler vertical, including system design, costing, project implementation, and maintenance strategies.
    • Standardize national practices and documentation in line with SecureFire’s compliance framework and operational targets.
    • Work closely with SecureFire’s executive and compliance teams to ensure the best-in-class fire protection service delivery.
  • Technical and Compliance Expertise
    • Ensure all sprinkler and suppression systems comply with ASIBSANS codes (including SANS 10139)SABS, and any relevant local or international standards.
    • Oversee the integration of detection systems with suppression platforms and advise on end-to-end system architecture.
    • Maintain strong knowledge of fire detection protocols, suppression technologies, control panels, alarm interface, and zoning requirements.
  • Project and People Management
    • Manage a national team of sprinkler designers, project managers, and technicians.
    • Conduct regular project reviews, quality checks, and technical training interventions.
    • Provide mentorship and drive a culture of safety, performance, and compliance.
  • Client Engagement & Support
    • Serve as the subject matter expert on all sprinkler-related client discussions, including high-value tenders, technical scoping, and escalations.
    • Collaborate with sales and account managers to increase market share in sprinkler and detection services.

Job Specification:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Technology, or equivalent.
  • ASIB Certification or Registered Competent Person for sprinkler systems.
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to travel nationwide.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced fire protection design training.
  • CFPS or equivalent international fire certification.
  • Project Management Certification (beneficial).

Experience:

  • Minimum 3–10 years of experience in fire suppression and detection systems.
  • Deep understanding of SANS 10139SANS 10287SABS standards, and ASIB guidelines.
  • Proven leadership in delivering end-to-end sprinkler projects across multiple sectors.
